Overview

This guide explains the essential gear to bring on expeditions in Duckov. With so many items available, new players often struggle with what to bring and how to build their loadout.

This article is for beginners.

General Equipment Configuration

  • Caliber AR: Assault Rifle
  • Caliber SR: Sniper Rifle
  • Melee Weapon: None
  • Large First Aid Kit
  • First Aid Kit
  • Candy Items
    • Stick Candy
    • Homemade Candy
  • Meal

First, let’s introduce a versatile set. For your main weapon, we recommend an assault rifle. Its long range and high damage make it effective not only against regular enemies but also in boss battles.

Weapon Configuration

For weapons, we recommend using either an MP7 or MP5 submachine gun as your primary, or an AK47 or AK103 assault rifle. Both weapons have a longer range and can fire rapidly, allowing you to handle dogs that charge in.

For the other weapon, a sniper rifle is recommended as it also aids in enemy detection. Snipers can be equipped with 8x scopes, allowing you to spot enemies at long distances. If you don’t have a sniper rifle, an assault rifle equipped with a 4x scope is also perfectly acceptable.

Do not carry melee weapons.

Many melee weapons are quite heavy, so it’s generally recommended to leave them behind when heading out on an expedition. While bringing a shovel to dig up items is a good idea, keep in mind that the shovel itself weighs 1.5kg.

There are two types of first-aid kits.

  • Hemostatic Bandage & Small First Aid Kit
  • Small First Aid Kit & Medium First Aid Kit
  • Medium First Aid Kit & Large First Aid Kit

Bring two types of first aid kits. Depending on your progress in the game, I recommend carrying a combination like the one above. Since you’ll generally want to keep your HP at maximum, use the smaller kit for minor injuries and the larger one for major damage.

Bleeding can be treated with all of these items, so there aren’t many situations where you absolutely must carry a hemostatic bandage. That said, hemostatic bandages do have the advantage of being quick to use.

Candy-like

  • Stick Candy
  • Homemade Candy
  • (Cola)

Candy-type items have an effect that grants the “Happy” buff. While the exact effect of Happy isn’t explicitly stated in-game, it may have a beneficial effect.

※Please correct me if I’m wrong
Happy has expressions like “feeling lighter” within quests. This can be interpreted as reduced weight or increased speed. Additionally, as the name “Happy” suggests, there are rumors that it improves drop rates.

Eat food items in moderation.

If you’re planning a long search, bring water and food. Since they aren’t heavy, you can always carry one of each without issue.

Weapon Configuration

Since weapon configurations depend on personal preference, I’ll introduce various patterns.

For laps

  • Caliber S: Submachine Gun
  • Caliber SR: Sniper Rifle

Submachine guns include the UP45, MP7, Vector, MP5, and others.

When farming lower-level dungeons that have become easier to clear, submachine guns are recommended. Submachine guns are easy to obtain and have a high “movement speed coefficient,” allowing you to run at nearly the same speed as when holding a weapon with both hands free.

Equipping customizations that boost mobility will increase the movement speed coefficient above 1.

For boss battles

  • Caliber AR: Assault Rifle
  • Caliber L: Battle Rifle

When tackling difficult bosses, it’s recommended to carry two assault rifles or battle rifles. Boss fights leave no time to waste reloading, so this setup allows you to switch to your second weapon once the first is completely depleted.

Snipers are less recommended for boss fights due to their limited effectiveness and the potential for group battles.

Close-range combat and certain group battles

  • Caliber AR: Assault Rifle
  • Caliber L: Battle Rifle
  • Caliber Shotgun: Shotgun

Shotguns can be useful in certain team fights and close-quarters combat. While they only hit targets at close range, their penetration allows them to take out multiple enemies with a single shot. Some shotguns, like pump-action types, can only be loaded one round at a time, but they reload quickly, making them surprisingly effective in certain situations.

However, their short range and difficulty dealing damage to distant enemies limit their effectiveness. Therefore, choose an easy-to-use assault rifle or battle rifle as your secondary weapon.

Spatial Storm

  • Attribute Weapons: Spatial Glicks, etc.

If you want to defeat Ghosts in the Spatial Storm, bring an “Elemental Weapon.” Since Ghosts are resistant to physical bullets, you’ll be instructed during the quest to bring an elemental weapon.

The Spatial Grigs that appear during the quest possess the “Spatial Element.” Other elemental weapons include the following:

  • Charged MP7: Electric Attribute (Boss Drop in Warehouse Area)
  • Cube Gun: Electric Attribute (Blueprint from Area Zero Cave)
  • ※TOZ66 Dragon Breath: Fire Attribute?
  • ※AK47 Fire: Fire Attribute?

※TOZ66 Dragon Breath and AK47 Fire have descriptions like “Dragon Breath rounds” that sound plausible, but they aren’t explicitly labeled as elemental weapons, so verification is needed. I’ll correct this if it’s wrong.
